Gällivare PhotoVoltaic AB was founded in 1992 and was the first and still is one of the largest producers of solar power modules in Scandinavia. The company is owned by the Swedish investment company Borevind AB (65%) and by the German solar power company SolarWorld AG (35%).
As part of German SolarWorld AG GPV has the advantage of being part of a group that produces everything from solar cell silicon wafers and solar cells to Solar Power Modules and high-performance energy systems. As a specialist in the manufacturing of Solar Power Modules, all our production development is focused on promoting this future energy technology.
Borevind AB
Borevind is an investment company within renewable energy and has its head office in Orust, Sweden. The company’s more than 3,100 shareholders are mainly institutional investors, private individuals and smaller companies both in Sweden and abroad. Borevind has invested in wind power, solar energy, wave power and bio energy and now owns 65% of GPV, 21,4% of Swedish Energy Transition System AB (Switchpower), 10% of Langlee Wave Power AS and 1,6% of Rindi Energy AB. The Borevind share is traded on the Stockholm Stock Exchange OMX First North.
SolarWorld AG
The SolarWorld Group is among the top trio of the solar power industry worldwide. The group is dedicated exclusively to the core business of solar energy, combining all stages of the solar value chain, from the raw material silicon to turn-key solar power plants. The company operates production facilities in Germany, Sweden and the USA. In California the largest production site in the USA for solar modules and in Oregon the largest production site in the USA for solar wafers and cells are being created. In Freiberg in Saxony the group operates one of the world’s most advanced integrated solar production facilities. Among the currently most important sales markets are Germany, USA and in the rest of Europe especially Spain. Sales offices in Germany, Spain, California, South Africa and Singapore provides service to the international solar markets.
