The County Governor officially opened Sala-Heby’s new PV system The County Governor officially opened Sala-Heby’s new PV system

The 5th of October 2009 Sweden’s largest ground based PV system was officially opened by The County Governor Ingemar Skogö. The plant is also unique as it today has 135 joint owners, www.solelisalaheby.se

The idea for a PV system was born at Sala-Heby Energi AB (SHE) during the autumn 2008. An inquiry was sent out to the public to see if there was any interest to become a member and part-owner of such a facility. The interest was far better than they had hoped for and during the spring 2009 the general public could sign for the first shares for 10 000 SEK/share and the association Solel in Sala Heby was formed. The first system is now installed in Sala and another system is at the planning stage in Heby municipality.

The plant will be 375 m² and generate approximately 40 000 kWh per year. Sala-Heby Energi, who has committed to buy the solar power for at least 10 years and to sell it via its net, is responsible for the running and maintenance of the plant.

The solar power modules are produced by GPV and the subsidiary Switchpower handled the planning and system integration.
